Bohemia

Rodger David, better known by his stage name Bohemia or Raja, is a Pakistani-American rapper, songwriter, poet, and record producer who hails from California. He is widely regarded as the world's first Punjabi rapper, having released the world's first Punjabi rap album in 2002, which was followed by another in 2003.
His parents were ethnic Punjabi Christians who lived in Karachi, Sindh. Bohemia was born into this household. In his house, he has a bible and a copy of the Guru Granth Sahib, since one of his forebears was a Sikh at one time. His father worked as a flight attendant for Pakistan International Airlines.
Following that, the family relocated to Lahore, where he spent his youth before spending seven years in Peshawar, Pakistan. His family relocated to the United States while he was in his early adolescence, landing in San Francisco's Mission District.

Around that time, he began studying guitar from his father and began penning Punjabi poetry in his spare time. His keyboard skills were sometimes put to use at local Desi gatherings. He composed songs and poems, largely in Urdu and Punjabi, and published them. The disease that took his mother's life when he was 16 years old devastated him.

A position at a recording studio in Sacramento was also offered to him around this time. He dropped out of school and moved away from his family in order to pursue a career as a full-time musician. Along with a group of other musicians, he travelled and performed throughout the United States and Canada, sleeping in automobiles and on the floors of recording studios.

He relocated to Oakland to be with his cousin, who was working at a West Oakland recording studio at the time and introduced him to a young hip-hop producer named Sha One, who became his mentor. He rapped over one of his tracks after she heard him recite something he had written in Punjabi, then she requested him to rap over another of his rhythms. The lyrics for Bohemia's first album Vich Pardesan De (In The Foreign Land) were written over the course of a few months, and they tell the tale of his life as a Desi teenager adjusting to life in the United States.

In 2002, his self-released first album, Vich Pardesan De, debuted in the top ten of the BBC Radio UK album chart. He also appeared in the Warner Bros film Chandni Chowk to China, in which he co-starred alongside Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone, as well as in a number of other Bollywood films, and sang the title tune for the film.

His most recent scandal stems from his criticism of Yo Yo Honey Singh's singing style, which sparked widespread outrage.
